I was too busy dancing that I almost forgot today was Valentine’s day

It’s that time of the year again! Time for you all to go and affirm your relationships on social media because if you don’t aggressively post the gifts your significant other got you on at least 2-3 different platforms are you even in a relationship at all? The answer to that is obviously no.

Now that I’m thinking back on it, the only truly enjoyable Valentine’s I’ve ever had with a s/o was with my high school boyfriend of 2 months. We went to a lowkey Italian restaurant, I had some bomb pesto pasta, and then we partied it up back home with some friends. It got pretty late so I crashed at his place and we picked up bagels in the morning. No gifts, no fluff, just some good vibes, some good company, and some damn good bagels.

My true significant other, my sister from another mister, my best friend in the whole world flew in to the ‘bier last night so I get to spend this gorgeously capitalist holiday together with her. We rang in the holiday last night by dancing in my bedroom and honestly I couldn’t think of any better way to celebrate. Sometimes there are days when you cry so hard that you can hear your heart beating in your head. Then there are days when you dance so hard you forget you were ever even crying at all because the beats coming from your headphones and the one coming from your body blend into one continuous flow of consciousness and recalibrate you so that anything you were feeling yesterday is washed away when you wake up the next day.

These songs are for everyone who’s single, down to mingle, ready to let their hair down, and hyped for some hangover bagels tomorrow morning. I don’t know about you, but that’s exactly what I’ll be doing this weekend. Happy Valentine’s day everyone.
